Busan Provisional Capital Government Complex / Dong-A University Seokdang Museum

Hello, downtown Busan has few traditional Korean buildings, but there are several buildings built in Japanese colonial era. Among them, Dong-A University’s Bumin Campus, located in Bumin-dong, Seo-gu, Busan, has a Renaissance-style three-story red brick building that started construction in 1923 and started working as the Gyeongnam Provincial Government building in 1925.

During the Korean War (1950-1953), it was used as a temporary capital government building in Busan, and after that, it was used as a Gyeongsangnam-do Office, but it contains the political changes of modern Korean history as the Gyeongsangnam-do Office moved to Jinju, Gyeongsangnam-do.

The Seokdang Museum of Dong-A University, which was newly transformed into the Dong-A University Museum on May 19, 2009, has a management room and seminar room on the first floor, a Buddhist art room, a ceramic room, an archaeological library, and a temporary capital government building model on the third floor.

The main collections are the Gaengukwonjong Credit Record (National Treasure No. 69), a document that recorded Shim Ji-baek’s outstanding contribution to the founding of the Joseon Dynasty under the royal order of King Taejo Lee Seong-gye of the Joseon Dynasty in 1397, and the 276cm longitudinal view of Gyeongbokgung Palace.

Why don’t you move to the Bumin Campus of Dong-A University, where the 15-story modern twin building behind the former Busan Provisional Capital Government Building, museums, and Seokdang Museum, which have valuable traces of Korean modern history, has a space for college students’ studies and is easy to forget.
