Yongdusan Park / Busan Diamond Tower (Busan Tower)

An urban park on a low mountain located in the center of Busan.

Yongdusan Park, located on a small mountain in the center of Nampo-dong, Jung-gu, Busan, is a resting place for the elderly. At the same time, the 118m tall Busan Tower and the statue of Admiral Yi Sun-sin (1545-1598) stand near the top of the mountain in a stately appearance. A species of Busan citizens created with donations from Busan citizens is welcoming tourists.

The Busan Tower Observatory, where you can see Tsushima Island in Japan on a clear day, offers a panoramic view of the streets of Busan Port and the port city of Busan, including the Busan Port International Passenger Terminal, the gateway to the Busan sea. Also, at night, the night view of Busan is very beautiful.

The bell of Busan citizens, the statue of Admiral Yi Sun-sin, and the statue of Yongdusan Park, which is a symbol of Yongdusan Park, to announce the New Year’s Day.

Admiral Yi Sun-sin was a general who was active during the Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592, and during the Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1597, and is still praised as a hero of the country that protected Korea. During the Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592, the Japanese army landed at Busan Port and violated the entire Joseon Dynasty in a short period of time, but was severely hit by the Joseon Navy led by Yi Sun-shin and failed to achieve its dream of conquest.

During the Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1597, Admiral Yi Sun-sin defeated the Japanese army, which gained momentum, and saved Joseon, which was killed by a stray bullet in the last battle. So even now, the statue of Admiral Yi Sun-sin stands proudly toward the Strait of Tsushima Island as if protecting Korea from Japan.

Currently, Yongdusan Park has become a representative tourist destination in Busan, but Choryang Waegwan (Japanese Residence), which was in charge of Japanese trade and diplomacy from 1678 to 1878, has been the home of exchanges between Korea and Japan since the 17th century.

Busan Tower located in Yongdusan Park.

However, with the end of the Pacific War in 1945 and the Korean War in 1950-1953, buildings and atmosphere that can remember the old appearance have almost disappeared, but it would be a good idea to climb the 118m-high Busan Tower overlooking Tsushima Island in Japan and enjoy the deep history of exchanges between Korea and Japan.

And it is located in a place where you can walk from Yongdusan Park to Gukje Market, which is a Manmul Market, and Jagalchi Market, which is a fish and shellfish market.
