Busan Gamcheon Culture Village

Gamcheon Culture Village is impressive with cute and colorful houses lined up on the slope of the mountain.

Viewed from Busan Port, where Korean-Japanese ferry between Korea and Japan arrives, it is impressive to see colorful houses lined up like villages on the hillside, which was formed by refugees who escaped from the North during the Korean War. When it was built, a terraced village was naturally created so that the back house could get the sunlight well, and the terraced village is still preserved even after 50 years.

In 2009, as the ‘2009 Village Art Project’ was conducted to rediscover the cultural charm of the village, which has been mourning with local residents for half a century while redeveloping an underdeveloped village, it is now reborn as an artistic Gamcheon culture village that foreign tourists enjoy. Photographers, tourists, and artists are attracted to the unique village scenery.
