The territorial battle was fierce until the 7th century due to the confrontation between Goguryeo in the north, Baekje in the southwest, and Silla in the southeast. In the 7th year of King Taejong Muyeol (Kim Chun-chu), General Kim Yu-sin joined forces with Tang Dynasty to destroy Baekje (668), and create a complete three kingdoms.

General Kim Yu-shin, who played a big role in the unification of the Three Kingdoms, was appointed King Heungmu during King Heungdeok’s reign (826-836). General Kim Yu-shin’s tomb has also become a popular tourist destination for many tourists as Kim Yu-shin’s youth has been depicted in MBC drama “Queen Seondeok,” which depicts the turbulent life of Silla’s first queen, which aired in May 2009.

The twelve statues of General Kim Yu-shin’s tomb are listed in the following order in the left direction.

The tomb of General Kim Yu-shin, a historic site built in the 14th year of King Munmu (674), surrounds a circular tomb, with its head shaped like an animal and its body protecting General Kim Yu-shin, a hero and military god of Silla. The twelve zodiac statues of the Silla Dynasty are often carved in unmanned costumes, and General Kim Yu-shin’s tomb faces to the right with various weapons in literary costumes and is considered one of the best statues carved during the Unified Silla Period.

It is about 1.8km away from Gyeongju Intercity Bus Terminal to Janggunmyo Shrine, and it takes about 30 minutes on foot and about 8 minutes to rent a bicycle near the bus terminal.
