Jungsaengsa Temple

Located at the northwest end of Nangsan Mountain in Gyeongju, Jungsaengsa Temple is a Silla-era temple about 200m north of Neungjitap, the crematorium of King Munmu in his 30s.

Built on the site of Jungsaengsa Temple in 1940, there is a statue of Maae Bodhisattva designated as Treasure No. 665, and relics such as the standing of Gwaneum Bodhisattva and the standing of Gwaneum Bodhisattva in Sibil-myeon were excavated outside the Gyeongju National Museum.

In the precincts of Jungsaengsa Temple, which also appears in the Samguk Yusa Temple, written by Ilyeon, a high-ranking Goryeo monk at the end of the 13th century, a statue of Maae Bodhisattva carved on a large rock and a stone pagoda are placed in the front yard of the temple.
