Gimhae National Museum, where you can feel the breath of Gaya history that developed ironware culture based on the Nakdonggang River basin

Hello, there was a federation of six countries called Gaya, which developed exchanges with Japan and iron culture until the middle of the 6th century, centering on the Nakdonggang River basin flowing in western Busan.

Located under Gujibong Peak, which houses stories of the founding of Geumgwan Gaya from six countries, the Gimhae National Museum mainly displays Gaya’s cultural assets, and exhibits prehistoric remains in Busan and the changed area that became the foundation of Gaya’s growth.

The Gimhae National Museum, which opened in July 1998, opened with three stories above ground and one basement floor to preserve and display Gaya-guk cultural assets of ancient countries. The exterior walls of the building were made of black bricks to fully utilize the image of “Iron Kingdom Gaya,” and Gaya countries are drawing the Gaya period with the latest archaeological research in that they lack historical and historical materials than ancient countries on the Korean Peninsula.

The permanent exhibition rooms on the 1st and 2nd floors display relics from the prehistoric and Gaya periods.

In the exhibition room on the first floor, hunting fishing tools, collection, farming, and bronze swords are displayed, and dog bones, Geumgwan Gaya, Ara Gaya, Sogaya, Daegaya, and Haman-gun Magapchong relics excavated from Sacheon-si.

In the exhibition room on the second floor, various relics such as Gaya period decorations, agricultural relics, and Gaya period characters and symbols are displayed. In the outdoor exhibition hall, dolmen and Seokgwanmyo, a Gaya period tomb excavated from the Dahori site in Changwon-si. Around the museum, there are the Royal Tombs of King Suro and the Ancient Tombs of Daeseong-dong, so you can see the Gaya street, which is full of the scent of the Iron Kingdom Gaya period, on foot.

How to go: Get out of Sasang Station on Busan Subway Line 2, transfer to Sasang Station on Busan-Gimhae Light Rail, and get off at Gimhae National Museum Station. Take the seat bus 1004 at the bus stop in front of Lotte Hotel & Lotte Department Store in Busan or in front of Exit 7 of Busan Station. Number 1004 is a seat bus from Busan Station to Gimhae, where Gimhae Busan Gusan-dong is the last stop.
