Hansando Jeseungdang

Hello, Hansando Island, located in Tongyeong, Gyeongsangnam-do, was used as a base for Jeolla Jwasuyeong, led by Admiral Yi Sun-shin during the Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1593, and the Samdo Jwasuyeong was established in 1593. It is also a historic place where the naval battle of Hansando Island took place, where the Joseon Navy, led by Admiral Yi Sun-shin, defeated the Japanese Navy and took control of the South Sea disaster area.

The remains of Hansando include Chungmusa Temple, where Admiral Yi Sun-shin was enshrined, Jeseungdang (then Unjudang), the naval command room of Joseon’s naval forces, which was used from July 15, 1593, shortly after the outbreak of the Japanese Invasion of Korea.
