Pyeongchang-gun, located in the southern part of Gangwon-do, where the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics (2018.2.9 (Friday) to 2.25 (Sunday) were held, is located in the Taebaek Mountain Range, and an altitude of more than 700 meters above sea level accounts for 60% of Pyeongchang’s area.

To the north is Odaesan National Park, 1,563 meters above sea level, and to the east is Gangneung-si, the final station of KTX on the Korean high-speed rail departing from Seoul.
