National Maritime Museum

National Maritime Museum

The National Maritime Museum opened in July 2012 right in front of Yeongdo International Cruise Terminal, where luxury cruise ships visiting Busan are visiting.

The museum’s exterior is built with a unique design of an inverted triangle with the motif of the sea and water droplets, and there is a permanent exhibition room on the first to fourth floors with the theme of the ocean.

More than 10,000 rare artifacts and exhibits related to the sea, including the history, science, and industry of the sea, are on display, and there is a “Chosun Tongsinsa Ship” restored to half the size of the real thing. There are corners where you can contact marine creatures, marine libraries, souvenir corners, 4D video halls, and tunnel-type aquariums where you can feel as if you are in the sea.

The rooftop of the museum is decorated with a park where you can see the sea named Sky Park, and you can enjoy the spectacular Busan sea and Oryukdo Island on the rooftop.

The National Maritime Museum is located on the way to Yeongdo Daejongdae Park, but there are few city buses that go straight to the museum, so it is also good to use the Busan City Tour Bus departing from Busan Station!
