STEAMED BUNS FROM THE MEMORY

STEAMED BUNS FROM THE MEMORY

Hello, Jagalchi Market in Nampo-dong, Busan is always bustling with shoppers looking to enjoy fresh sashimi and the lively atmosphere of the fish market, but there’s a shop in the center of the market that serves steamed buns, or red bean buns as they’re called in Japan, that were once a popular snack. In addition to steamed buns, you can also enjoy donuts and steamed dumplings at affordable prices.

If you walk a little past Nonghyup Hanaro Mart in Nampo-dong, where Busan Subway Line 1 runs, you’ll find a shop on your left that sells steamed buns with a nostalgic flavor of warm white steam. These pot-steamed red bean buns are called jjinppang in Korea, and they are a favorite of children who used to wait for their fathers at home when they came home from school.
One steamed bun costs 1000Won.
