'Busan Dialect Contest' to Commemorate Hangeul Day to be Held Next Month 9th

Dong-A University's Institute of Korean Language and Culture announced on Oct. 20 that it will hold the '7th Korean Language Love Feast' in honor of Hangeul Day, the 577th anniversary of Hoonminjeong-eum Banpo.

Hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the city of Busan, the event, which is organized by the Dong-A University Institute of Korean Language and Culture and the Busan Language Education Association, will be held on Oct. 9 at Busan City Hall's Recording Square for Busan citizens.

At 11 a.m. on the same day, the 'Busan Dialect Contest' will be held as a commemorative event. The contest is divided into a youth division for elementary, middle, and high school students and a general division for adults, and the first 30 participants in the youth division and the first 50 participants in the general division can apply.

Participants will solve problems related to the Busan language, such as vocabulary and accent, in the same way as the broadcast program 'Challenge Golden Bell,' and will be awarded first prize, second prize, and third prize for each category according to the results of the competition.

In the afternoon, the 'Hangeul Day Commemorative Lecture' and 'Korean Language Contest' will be held for Busan citizens.

Those who wish to participate in the Busan dialect contest and the Korean language contest should call Dong-A University's Korean Language and Culture Center or fill out a Google Form, and the application period is until October 6.
