Busan Metropolitan Government's 8th consecutive day of Omicron infection has reached 10,000 and 20 people died the day before.

More than 10,000 new coronavirus infections (COVID-19) have been confirmed in Busan for eight consecutive days due to the spread of Omicron mutations.

According to the Busan Metropolitan Government's health authorities, 10,890 people were infected with COVID-19 from midnight to 2 p.m. on March 1, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 214,649.

In Busan, 12,816 confirmed cases were reported on May 22, and the number of confirmed cases exceeded 10,000 for the first time in eight consecutive days until May 1.

Twenty people died the day before, including one in their 90s, seven in their 80s, three in their 70s, five in their 60s, three in their 50s, and one in their 30s.

Nineteen of them have underlying diseases, eight have not been vaccinated, four have not been vaccinated, and eight have been vaccinated.

As of midnight on March 1, 56 patients were seriously ill.

The total number of confirmed cases in Busan last week (February 20-26) was 77,762, or 11,108 a day.

Compared to the total number of infected people (39,371) and the average number of infected people (5,624 per day) in the previous week (February 13-19), the figure nearly doubled.

Last week, the average infection reproduction index was 1.32, and the infection detection rate in Korea was 99.6 percent.
