Gongsanseong Fortress

Hello, Gongsanseong Fortress was built to protect Ungjin, the capital of Baekje, for 64 years until it moved to Buyeo in 538 (the 16th year of King Seongwang’s reign), and it is a Pogok-style fortress surrounding the summit of Gongsanseong Fortress at 110m above sea level.

The circumference of the fortress is 2450m long, 800m east-west, and 400m north-south, and stone walls remain in the east-west, north-south, and at the time of its construction, it was renovated into the current stone fortress during the Joseon Dynasty.

If you go up the slope a little from the ticket office, you will find Geumseoru, the west gate of Gongsanseong, and inside the fortress there are two zelkova trees that tell the story of King Injo (1623~1649) who took refuge in Gongsanseong for a while during the rebellion of Igwa during the Joseon Dynasty. Ssangsujeong Historic Monument, an inscription that records the ten days of King Injo who fled from the rebellion, and Gongsanseong Fortress were reconstructed from Toseong to Seokseong in the early Joseon Dynasty.

금서루(金西樓)

In addition, Gongsanseong Fortress, which has many relics from each period, was called Ungjinseong in the Baekje period and Gongsanseong from the Goryeo period, and is designated as Historic Site No. 12.
