Yangsan City Museum (Bukjeong-dong Couple Tomb)

The City Exhibition Hall displays a model of Yangshan Bu-Bu in Bukjeong-dong Ancient Tombs

Hello, Yangsan-si, which borders Busan and the northwest, is located between Gimhae-si, the king of Geumgwan Gaya, and Ulsan-si, which was located in the influence of Silla. About 10 minutes’ drive from Yangsan Station on Busan Metro Line 2 is Bukjeong-dong Buchongchong, where many relics such as Silla-style gilt-bronze coffins were excavated in ancient tombs of Gaya-style in the early 6th century.

Historic Site No. 93 There are Bujuchong and Geumjochong in the ancient tombs side by side on the western slope of Seonghwangsan Mountain, 320m above sea level.

The 27m-diameter and 3m-high Bukjeong-dong couple’s gun, which is the 10th tomb in Bukjeong-dong, was reported to the conference in 1927 by Japanese archaeologist Keikichi Ogawa, and 489 artifacts, including gold-shaped jade necklaces, were taken to Japan in Japanese colonial era and are currently displayed at the Tokyo National Museum.

It was opened as Yangsan Relics Exhibition Hall in April 2013, and the name was changed to Yangsan City Museum on January 1, 2014. As a permanent exhibition hall, there is a tomb room where the couple’s guns and Geumjochong models are displayed, a history room where great people, history, and culture that shone in Yangsan-si are introduced, and a special exhibition room.

There is also an outdoor exhibition hall of tombs that was investigated when the exhibition hall was built.

From October 15, 2013 to January 12, 2014, 67 pieces of marital gun relics borrowed from the Tokyo National Museum are exhibited, and the gilt-bronze hall is excluded. In the case of the gilt-bronze crown, it was excluded because it could be damaged during transportation from Japan to Korea.

Yangsan Relics Exhibition Hall is about 80 meters away from Bukjeong-ri Ancient Tombs, and the road to the Ancient Tombs in the jurisdiction is cleanly maintained as a promenade and used as a resting place for Yangsan citizens. Most of the relics of the Yangsan Museum are reproduced, but they are important in studying cultural exchanges between Silla and Gaya in ancient Korea.
